Looking for a budget friendly centrepiece? Well, here we have the plain old colddrink or wine bottle. In fact any kind of bottle will do. If you can find vintage bottles, even better. Literally just throw in a flower or two into each bottle and remember you only need one or two really pretty flowers in each bottle to make a great looking centrepiece. This is very effective if grouped together.

Many brides have their reasons to use an alternative to fresh flowers. Below are a few ideas to get you going. Most of these ideas can be done way ahead of the day saving you lots of stress. So get DIYing and if you are doing anything different be sure to let us know.

Wrist corsages are similar to a bracelet which is decorated with flowers. It could be fresh or fabric flowers. With the wide choice of flowers, beads and accessories available this is great as a DIY project and if you choose fabric flowers, wrist corsages can be made well in advance and set aside for the big day. Most of us throw these jars away without thinking about the many ways they could be used. With the vintage, rustic look trending at the moment, here is a look at some of the practical but pretty ways to use them at your wedding.

The most popular way of using glass jars is for flowers. Hanging from trees, lining the aisles or as a centrepiece on the tables. All of these ideas have their own charm and simplicity. You could easily make your own flower arrangements and show off the artist in you. Even though glass jars are easy on the pocket, there is nothing cheap looking about them.

Then we have candles in glass jars. Don't you find that sometimes you need a bit of extra lighting but the cost of this is just too much? Here is the perfect solution. Candles and jars can be collected over a long period and this is cost effective allowing you to buy as and when you can.

Glass jars are wildly popular right now as containers for food and drink. You can have cupcakes, desserts, ice-cream, drinks and even pies in jars. These are my favourite ways to use glass jars. Can you think of more?

Don’t throw out old cold drink crates if you have them laying about. In fact, start collecting them from fleamarkets because they can become very handy for a vintage rustic wedding. The possibilities for these are endless.

Ladders can also prove useful as props or decor. Every dad or big brother has one so borrow from them. Tie hearts to them, add flowerpots and use to attach table names.

These items in their rustic simplicity, can look really good when dressed up with pretty flowers or favours.
